Boilers
A boiler also known as a hydronic heating system. It uses natural gas, propane, oil or wood to heat the fluid (either water or glycol). It's pumped to the various elements to heat your home such as radiators, in floor heating, baseboards and towel warmers.
Boilers are an effective heating source for larger surface areas such as driveways, hot tubs and swimming pools.
Boilers are popular in Europe and also in older homes in North America. Compared to forced air (furnace heating), radiant heat is one of the cleanest heat sources. It doesn’t produce chemicals, dust particles, odours or fumes. It’s ideal for people with allergies, asthma and arthritis. It’s also super quiet! As well, you don’t need to worry about ductwork and bulkheads in your ceilings.
To install a boiler for your home, you should look for an electrician or a qualified heating heating contractor who also has their gas fitters license. In Ontario, Fuel Industry Certificates are issued by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA).
